Fourth Annual Cancer Center For Kids Golf Outing
      The fourth annual Cancer Center for Kids Golf Outing, held at the Hamlet Wind Watch Golf & Country Club in Hauppauge on June 16, was a terrific success, raising more than $47,000 in support of vital support programs for Winthrop's pediatric oncology/hematology patients. More than 100 golfers braved threatening skies to play 18 holes for a great cause.

Summer Art Workshops for Kids
      School's out for summer and there's still time to sign up for two exciting kids' art workshops at the Long Island Museum of American Art, History & Carriages in Stony Brook. West Nile Warning
      Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) warns residents that the West Nile virus (WNV) was reported yesterday by the New York State Department of Health from a mosquito pool found in Bethpage. The virus was identified in a sample of Culex pipien-restuans mosquitoes (a species that primarily bites birds), and was collected July 2nd.

      The Garden City Library's Summer Reading Program for children is underway with the Summer Reading Club, arts and crafts programs, story times, book discussions, and Wednesday Family Nights. The second of five arts and crafts programs was held on Tuesday, July 8th. The children painted ceramics with Rosemarie Attard.

Evening Of Music & Cheer Raises $30,000
      Charlie's Champions Foundation kicked off the start of summer with its second annual Evening of Music and Cheer to benefit the Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) at Winthrop-University Hospital. The evening, hosted at Adelphi University, included cocktails and dinner, lively entertainment, a silent auction and raffle prizes and was a tremendous success, raising $30,000 for the CCFK.
