THE SIMPSONS MOVIE
Thursday evening, July 17 the Young Adult Department will be showing the movie, THE SIMPSONS MOVIE at 7 PM. All guests entering grades 6-12 are invited to view this movie on the big screen of the library's large meeting room with their friends. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs for 87 minutes. The Library will be serving refreshments courtesy of the Friends of The Garden City Public Library.
DISCOVER THE YA COMPUTER CENTER
The YA Computer Center is in operation. The renovations to the Young Adult Room included a Computer Center reserved for those patrons in Grades 6-12. There are four computers at the west end of the YA Room as well as a laser printer and a sign up station for reserving the next available computer when all are in use. These computers are available during normal library hours unless no one is available to supervise. This will insure that the computers are used only by the appropriate age group.
Each machine is equipped with Internet Explorer (always filtered), PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. YA's who need Excel may use it in the Adult Computer Center on the Lower Level. As in the Adult Computer Center, there is a 3 hour limit for use per day, and a limit to 5 pages of free printing. Additional printing needs can be purchased at the Circulation Desk for 5 cents per page up to 20 additional pages.
We invite YA's to use our new Computer Center and ask that they register at the front desk. Anyone under 17 years of age should have a parent sign a consent to use form.
Registration for all YA programs may be done in person at the Young Adult desk, by phone to the Young Adult Librarian (516-742-8405) or by email to mkelly@gardencitypl.org.
