The FC New York Premier U-13 soccer players headed up to Albany last weekend to compete in the Empire Cup Tournament. The talented team of thirteen year old boys from Nassau and Suffolk Counties played in the ultra-competitive Capital District event last Summer as a NOGA Premier team so they were in fact the defending champs under a new label. More ... The Yankees T-Ball West enjoyed a great and fun-filled Spring Season. The Yanks developed their hitting, throwing and catching skills, and they learned how to properly run the bases, how to execute force outs, and how to hit the cutoff man from the outfield. All players rotated playing all positions in the field, and all players rotated hitting in the batting order. More ... Connie McKnight, our resident yoda instructor, will continue to run her classes during the summer. The classes will run for seven weeks at a cost of $35. The spring 2008 GCAA baseball season for the Junior League (13-14 year old) was exciting, challenging and most important, lots of fun for all. The Mets, pictured below, capped off an undefeated season going 15-0, whereby each and every Met contributed to the successful season. The Championship game featured the Mets vs. the Redsox. More ... More ... The Garden City Renegades Lacrosse Club has just completed another successful season. The Renegades players in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades enjoyed a competitive lacrosse experience participating in the Oyster Bay Lacrosse League (OBLL) without having to forfeit other athletic opportunities. On the day of Saturday June 28th a group of soon-to-be 4th grade Centennial soccer players banded together and stormed the fields at Bethpage seeking the second annual Roughriders Independence Cup. Hot and thirsty, they battled their opponents from early afternoon until well into the evening. More ... GCAA is currently accepting applications for the boy's fall intramural soccer program. Players entering Grades K through 6th in the fall and who attend school or live in Garden City are eligible to participate. The season will run on Saturday afternoons from September 6th to early November. More ... The Garden City Pool is accepting applications from residents who are 16 years of age and older who would like to work at the Garden City Pool for the month of August through Labor Day. The Pool is seeking applicants for both attendants and Nassau County certified life guard positions. Any interested residents should apply at the Pool Office between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm weekdays. More ... |
