Adelphi Annual Golf Classic
Adelphi University is pleased to honor Gus Scacco '84 at is 20th Annual Golf Classic on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Cherry Valley Club, Garden City, NY. Mr. Scacco is managing director of AG Asset Management in Manhattan.
Mr. Scacco has served as lead portfolio manager and research analyst for the private investment firm since 2004. AG Asset Management currently manages more than $3 billion and provides services for a wide array of clients including corporate and public pension plans, endowments, foundations, and private investors.
Mr. Scacco initially oversaw investment portfolio management during the six years he spent at Morgan Stanley in the Asset Management Division. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Scacco served as an equity research analyst at J. & W. Seligman & Company. A number of companies in which Mr. Scacco invested during his six year tenure at Seligman have developed into prominent national chains, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Coach, Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, and Wynn Resorts.
Mr. Scacco was recruited out of high school to play for the Adelphi Panthers men's baseball team. He lettered each year of his baseball career at Adelphi and served as captain of the team both junior and senior year. After graduating with his B.B.A. in 1984, Mr. Scacco was pursued by the Cincinnati Reds. He attended spring training, but later returned to Long Island to complete his M.B.A. at Hofstra University after which he enrolled in Chemical Bank's credit training program, emerging in 1989 as the only non-Ivy-league graduate. Mr. Scacco now lives in Glen Head, New York with his wife Lina, and their two children, Peter and Jacqueline.
Shotguns are scheduled at 7:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit student athletic scholarships. Last year's event raised $154,000 in scholarship support.
Co-chairs of the event are John P. Finnerty M.S. '77 of WJM Associates, Inc. and Stephen M. Wirth '70 of the New York Sports and Physical Therapy Institute.
