The Class of 2012. The Waldorf School of Garden City completed its 61st academic year on Thursday, June 12. Continuing a Waldorf tradition, the school year ended with a beautiful end-of-year assembly where students performed recitations, songs and short plays for their teachers, families and friends. As part of the celebration, each class teacher or advisor extinguished their class' candle for the summer. In addition, 22 first-graders presented the gift of a rose to each of the 23 students of the graduating senior class as part of the annual "rose ceremony." That evening, all 26 members of the class of 2012 took part in the eighth grade graduation ceremony. In September, four new students will join the class in the high school. Having carried the class of 2012 since third grade as their lower school class teacher, Ms. Claudia Hart will rejoin the school next year as the first grade class teacher. With a successful year behind them, the faculty, staff and students at the Waldorf School can look forward to the relaxation and rewards of the summer vacation.
