Waldorf Completes
Its 61st Year
      The Waldorf School of Garden City completed its 61st academic year on Thursday, June 12. Continuing a Waldorf tradition, the school year ended with a beautiful end-of-year assembly where students performed recitations, songs and short plays for their teachers, families and friends.

Cathedral Church School Acknowledges Children and Teachers
      The children and the teachers of the Cathedral of the Incarnation's Church School were acknowledged for their commitment to the religious education program at the ten o'clock Mass on Sunday, June 15. This was the closing ceremony for Church School education for this school year. Church school will resume in mid-September. The school session begins at 10:30 a.m. following the 9:30 a.m.

Sen. Hannon Honors Kathleen Scaturro
     Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) recently congratulated Kathleen Scaturro as the winner from St. Joseph's School of Senator Hannon's 2008 "There Ought To Be A Law" contest. The annual program honors the ideas for New York State legislation, as conceived by local students. Kathleen's winning entry proposed: "Children should not be required to carry backpacks that weigh over 25 pounds; and students should have two copies of every text book paid for by the school district." Senator Hannon is pictured with Kathleen, her dad Tom, teacher Mrs. Keefe, and her mom Jeanmarie.

      The University of Pennsylvania has announced that Jason Butler, son of Tom and Robin Butler, has been named to the Dean's List for the 2007-2008 academic year. The Dean's List requires a minimum grade point average of 3.7 for the academic year.

      More than 1,200 Lehigh University students were awarded bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees during 140 th Spring Commencement ceremonies at Goodman Stadium in Bethlehem, Pa. Local graduates included Garden City residents.
