The Cathedral of the Incarnation
The Cathedral of the Incarnation Keen observers last week will have noticed the scaffolding on the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation has finally begun to come down. It will take weeks to remove it all. However, one can now see the beautifully refurbished gold cross high atop the rebuilt steeple. It's been many years that this once taken for granted landmark has been seen without scaffolding.

It was actually the fall of 1998 that the lower scaffolding went up after a thunderstorm knocked pieces of the steeple to the ground. Years later the upper scaffolding went up encasing the 1885 Gothic style cathedral. Initially this was to inspect the steeple and the report back was to dismantle about thirty feet or so of the steeple and reconstruct it. In some cases, the brownstone could not be reused and new pieces had to be created. All of this took time (and money).

However, the end result is now visible for all to see. This majestic Cathedral, built by Cornelia Stewart in memory of her husband and our founder A.T. Stewart, once again shines brightly.
