News 12 Long Island and Citibank hosted an awards dinner for 30 high school scholar athletes from Long Island, marking the culmination of the year-long Scholar Athlete scholarship program.

At the award ceremony featuring special guest Hall of Famer and current News 12 Long Island sportscaster Bob Wolff, News 12 Long Island awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarship grants to two students, Magdalena Robak from Half Hollow Hills High School West and Spencer DeSena from Garden City High School.

"We wish to recognize the outstanding achievements made this year by all of our scholar athletes, each of whom have truly raised the bar, both on the playing field and in the classroom," said Patrick Dolan, President of News 12 Networks and News Director for News 12 Long Island. "We congratulate the 2008 scholarship grant recipients and look forward to continuing to highlight the extraordinary achievements of our local students."
