Rotacare Plans Its 15th Annual Caregivers Ball

The corporate honoree will be George L. Engelke, Jr., chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Astoria Financial Corporation and Astoria Federal Savings & Loan Association. Mr. Engelke, a Garden City resident, is well known for his involvement in community affairs, serving as a member of the Community Preservation Corporation, the Board of Trustees of Long Island University and the Advisory Board of Directors of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City, Inc.

RotaCare will also be recognizing the INN (the Interfaith Nutrition Network) which will be represented by its Executive Director, Jean Kelly. Through their generosity, Rota Care had its first "home" at the Mary Brennan Inn in Hempstead fifteen years ago. The INN recently celebrated its 25th anniversary.

RotaCare continues its mission to facilitate free health care for those who have the most need and the least access to medical care. The mission is accomplished by a dedicated volunteer staff and the financial contributions of organizations and individuals committed to making health care available to all in need. RotaCare is a project of Rotary District 7250 and is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes volunteers, especially in the medical and pharmaceutical areas.
