The annual brunch for the Bridge Marathon, a fundraiser on behalf of the Garden City League of Mercy Medical Center, was recently held at the home of Joan Hildreth, co-chairperson of the event along with Marygene Anderson. For the fifth year in a row, alumni, their families and friends of the Waldorf School of Garden City convened at Camp Glen Brook, the school's 250-acre extension campus located in Marlborough, New Hampshire over the Memorial Day Weekend. In the last match of the season, the Garden City Xtreme hosted the Farmingdale Rockets last Saturday. The Rockets are one of the top U-11 teams on Long Island. They are the co-champions of the Waldbaums Cup in the Major Division. However, the Xtreme have been playing excellent soccer and took the play to the Rockets for 60 minutes, winning the match 3-0. Mary Lyons Mary (nee McKenna) Lyons passed away from this world on January 5, 2008. Garden City lost a treasured resident on that day. She and her beloved, the late John Joseph Lyons, who passed away April 18, 1996, were blissfully married for fifty-five years. They raised their family in Garden City sine 1955.
