On Wednesday, May 7, the Community Club closed its 2007/2008 season with a dance program featuring three of former ballerina Felicia Lovaglio's students from Adelphi University, Jennifer Cohen, Anna Smith and Irina Ostrozhnyuk, woh demonstrated dance techniques from three different disciplines - ballet, modern and jazz.
Felicia began the program as she begins each class by having her students do warm-up exercises at the barre, then performing simple dance moves, progressing to more difficult ones. The students would follow her instruction and she would encourage and critique. Each dance discipline required a simple change of costume, such as an added skirt or in the case of jazz, a sequined top hat to create a mood. The dancers were so talented it was difficult to believe they were still only students. But credit must be given to Felicia for that - she's obviously a fantastic teacher.

In addition to the dance exhibit, members and guests were treated to the opening of the 75 th annual Peggy Otto Studio Exhibit, featuring the works of fine art created by students enrolled in various painting classes. Studio director Darlene Record dedicated this year's exhibit to the memory of longtime past president, Margaret (Peg) Musil, a longtime supporter of the studio, who was taken from us this year.
