"Talons: Birds of Prey" show was featured at the picnic, with a real Hawk and two Owls that performed what birds do best: FLY! The Master Falconer was a wealth of information explaining how the birds hunt and eat and their nocturnal habits. The Scouts made a human tunnel and the large predators flew through, showing off their incredible wing span. Later each child was able to hold the hawk or the screech owl under supervision of the falconer. This presentation was a real treat to appreciate wild animals up close and learn how to preserve their habitat.

The picnic continued with tug of war, frisbee toss and wiffle ball. Great food and friends on a warm spring day ended the year perfectly. Summer holds more activities for the Scouts, including camping at Wading River in July, a Ducks game in August and their favorite outdoor activity, the Pack 55 Campout held at Cathedral grounds. Sleeping in a tent, a campfire, the Raingutter Regatta are all traditions at the Pack 55 annual campout.
