Renegades matching up on "D"..... K Dog taking a break The Garden City Renegades mounted up for a quick ride to Massapequa on June 7th to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Tournament. The Young Guns answered the bell for an 8am game verse a strong and vibrant Massapequa Blue team. The Renegades carried out the coaches three pass gameplan to perfection by constantly looking for their open teammates, which allowed them to pelt the Blue's goalie with a barrage of shots. The middies kept the ball moving between the defense and the attack using their lightning speed to the outside and constantly taking the ball behind the net, where they settled in waiting for the cutters to get open. The pinpoint passing attack help create 8 beautiful goals that were all team orchestrated. K Dog in net came up big stopping the Massapequa attack over and over again, while clearing with great accuracy. The defense used their muscle to keep the Blue's out of the hole and let them know this was their turf in front of the goal. Following the game the kids enjoyed the fruits of their labor by indulging themselves with gatorade, ices, munchkins and bagels(THANK YOU PARENTS). After a 2 hour break between games and many games of running bases on the tennis court the Young Guns loaded up for game number 2 verse the Massapequa Gold team(who went home and jumped in the pool to keep cool during the 90+ degree day). After the Renegades took control of the opening face off and marched down the field for a great goal, the boys dug in for what was to be a long drench soaked game. With both teams wilting in the heat the game was played at a slow down. When the whistle finally blew the teams got together to show great respect they have gained for one another throughout the season. The Renegades would like to thank the Masssapequa Lacrosse club for our invite to the tournament. It is with great pleasure that, we as a team were able to assist, in a small part, to help other less fortunate kids out. Thanks again to all the parents who contributed and the rest for getting the kids on time to the early games. This was a great lacrosse building block for our kids. Thank you boys for giving your all, and the sportsmanship you exerted on the field. Renegade coaches couldn't be prouder of you.
