7th Grade Grey Lady Rams Continue Unbeaten Season
The seventh grade Grey Lady Rams lacrosse squad continued their strong play this past Sunday with a hard-fought 14-4 victory over homestanding Wantagh. Despite playing with only two substitutes, the Lady Rams controlled play from the outset and benefited from a very strong defensive effort. Goalie Jackie Ferri turned back six Wantagh shots and was well-protected by the swarming play of defenders Laura Coleman, Haley Newlin-Wagner, and Marie Cristoforo. Wantagh played a very physical midfield game, but the Lady Rams middies managed to break free for numerous scoring opportunities. Top scorer Jackie Jahelka netted five goals on the afternoon, and hat tricks were also registered by Krista Dampman and Emily Finnerty. Additional goal scorers were Lilly Schmitt, Haley Shannon, and Taylor Pappas. The Lady Rams benefited from strong groundball play and pinpoint passing, which led to assists for Bitty Furman (3), Erin Higgins (2), Megan Higgins (2), and Stephanie DiPierri (2). Coaches Jahelka, Coleman, and Shannon are proud of the strong team play the Lady Rams have shown as they finished the regular season with an 8-0 mark, winning the western division of the LIGSYLL. The Lady Rams will welcome back teammates Addie Zebrowski, Nickie Berkery, Mary Glenn, Brianna Noak, and Caitlin Mallon when they meet Cold Spring Harbor for the LIGSYLL Championship on Tuesday evening June 10th (7:00 PM or 8:30 PM) at Allen Park in Farmingdale. Go Lady Rams!
