On May 29, a 43-year-old Westbury woman was arrested for allegedly taking a Trini Truck dress valued at $248 at Lord and Taylor...On May 25, someone took $350 wipers and a $40 American pole at Maria Lane...On June 2, PO Madden and Po Rothermel went to the scene of a reported assault at Quiznos, Franklin Avenue. A victim stated then when he was working behind the counter, two familiar men entered the store and one hit him with a bottle and the other assaulted him by hitting him with a baseball bat. Later on that day, police arrested two 18-year-olds for the crime of assault-one from Roosevelt and one from East Meadow...Several youths were walking near Elm Street near St. James St. South, when 3 men got out of an SUV and approached them. They took a cell phone from a victim and threw it on the railroad tracks before taking $10 and a bag of candy from that same victim. PO Sommer later arrested 3 males-one was under 16 and treated as a juvenile, a 17-year-old West Hempstead man and a 20-year-old West Hempstead man... Fire Responses: On May 28, plumbers soldering at a Franklin Avenue business activated a smoke detector there...A broken service line to a Devereux Place house caused flooding in front of a window well on May 28... A lawn chemical application was the source of a chemical odor at Kingsbury Rd. on May 30... FD found an overheated vent motor that caused a light smoke condition on June 1...An oil leak from a car parked in a driveway caused smoke at a Surrey Lane house on June 2... FD removed the occupant of an overturned car in Field 7N on June 4...That's all this week.
