Girls Varsity Lacrosse Continues Winning Way

Photo by Newsphoto.com The unstoppable girls varsity lacrosse team of Garden City continued its run of wins with a 19-2 victory over Long Beach in a Nassau Class B quarterfinal on Tuesday afternoon May 27th at GCHS. The only threat that Garden City faced was one from mother nature as the skies turned dark during the first half and threatened severe storms. Thankfully, the storms held off to allow the game to be played. Leading the scoring for Garden City was Emily Norell with three goals, followed by: Caroline Tarzian (2 goals, 2 assists), Lauren Terracciano (2 goals, 1 assist), Shannon Mangini (2), Caroline McTiernan (2 goals, 2 assists), Amanda Keller (2), Becky Lynch (2 goals, 3 assists), Brittany Wilton (1 goal, 2 assists), Dayna DeFliese (1 goal, 2 assists), Megan Walters (1), and Catherine Furman (1). Goalkeeper Erin Mullins made 3 saves, Kelly Weis made 2.

The Trojans advance to the semifinal game today, May 30th at Denton Avenue Field. They will play the winner of No. 4 Calhoun and. No. 5 Lynbrook.
