The vote by the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency on whether or not to offer financial assistance to a developer interested in acquiring the Garden City Hotel was postponed at their May 28th meeting. It is expected the agency will publicly convene to discuss the issue further and vote before their next official meeting scheduled for June 25th.

Approximately 20 people attended the meeting, including Village Counsel Gerard Fishberg and Village Administrator Robert Schoelle, Jr. The Garden City School District was represented by Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance Albert Chase, school board President Kenneth Monaghan and PTA president and school board trustee-elect Angela Heineman. Nassau County Tax Assessor Harvey Levinson, who has been a vocal critic of the proposed deal, was reportedly also in attendance.
