AAUW Seeking Members
Mary Kuczyk modeled a sari for Mrs. Singh's talk.
There's always something new to catch your attention at the American Association Of University Women. Guest speaker Naginder Singh recently showed member Mary Kuezyk the intricacies of wrapping a sari. Mrs. Singh, a 30-year resident of Long Island, delighted AAUW members with the story of her arranged marriage in India, where she was a high school teacher, to her most successful transition to America with her family, where she is now a social worker.
Each month members of the American Association of University Women can choose from a variety of programs. Whether you enjoy the challenges of foreign policy, literature, bridge, fundraising or other diverse topics, you will surely find something to pique your curiosity as you get to know a great group of women with similar interests.
Why not give the Garden City branch of AAUW a try? If you are a graduate of an accredited two or four year college, you are eligible to join. Call Mary Knox, vice president for membership, at 741-0592 for further information.
