Jenna Codignotto takes ball out of air On a beautiful spring day, the Garden City Xtreme traveled to Soccer Park in Plainview to do battle with the Syosset 96 Arsenal. When the Xtreme and Arsenal have played in the past, it's usually end-to-end action. This match was no different from past games. The match started with the usual furious pace, one counter attack after another. The Arsenal had a strong and talented right wing, the backs worked diligently to contain her. On the offensive, the Xtreme had the Arsenal keeper and defenders under heavy pressure early in the half. There were some great chances, but the Syosset keeper came up big. The Arsenal were able to net two goals in the first half to have a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Xtreme were in an unfortunate position of having to try to stag a second half comeback. Ten minutes into the half, it seemed possible. Colette Seel won possession and carried down the left side. She sent an awesome ball to the far post where Cara Adams was sprinting forward. Cara one timed the ball into the goal to close the gap to one. Pumped up and full of spirit, the Xtreme had the Arsenal backing up. In the last 10 minutes, the Xtreme pushed forward very aggressively and exposed their back. Unluckier, the team didn't score and goals and Syosset came down and scored two more.
