Varsity Baseball Team Hosts Seaford

Jeff Kimball pitches against Seaford. Photo by Newsphoto.com On May 15th Garden City's varsity baseball team played host to Seaford in their last regular season game before the playoffs. Junior Jeff Kimball, pitching for the Trojans, gave up no earned runs on six hits. He struck out eight and walked none for his first varsity win for Garden City. Don McKennett hit a two run triple in the fourth inning to add to the 8-1 victory.

The Trojans followed up with a first round playoff win over Manhasset on May 17th during the Men's Association Annual Sports Fair. With the score tied at 8-8, Andrew Cauchi hit a solo homerun. He pitched four innings in relief, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Mike Mancusi went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Terry Curtin went 3-for-4 with an RBI giving the Trojans a 13-8 victory and advancing GC to a second round playoff series with Seaford.
