Patriettes Battle Franklin Square
Claudia Caracciolo holds off two opponents
It was a sunny Saturday that the U11 Patriettes took on the Franklin Square Strikers in a battle for second place. The game was very fast moving which the Patriettes continually moving the ball up field and challenging the Franklin Square defenders. With less than 2 minutes left in the first half however, the Strikers scored to take a 1-0 lead. The second half opened up very quickly with the Patriettes opponents getting a quick goal to make the score 2-0. However, the Patriettes were determined to get back in the game. Halfway thought the 2nd half the Patriettes made a strong rush and scored a goal that cut the deficit in half. True to the teams nature the girls continued to hustle to the ball and make a number of strong rushes to the net. The last 5 minutes of the game were exciting for all in attendance while the Patriettes battled in an attempt to tie the game The whistle blew to end the half and the Patriettes unbeaten streak (including Waldbaum's Cup games) ended at 6. The girls now have he Memorial Day weekend off and return to action May 31 vs Massapequa.
