Girls Varsity Places First in Softball Conference
      With an overall record of 17 wins and 7 losses, Garden City powers its way to the number one conference position. The team's balanced approach of speed, power and excellent defense and pitching has been a winning combination. Manager Charlie Fischer and Coach Glenn Sanacora are preparing the girls for their first playoff versing Jericho. Good luck, girls!

Third Grade Grey Lacrosse Wins Another Game!
      The third grade girls had another fantastic win and as predicted, faced their toughest competition against Manhasset. The girls continue to improve game after game and both the offense and the defense was the best yet. Claire Gallic led off with the first goal of the game and the action was on!

White Sweeties Win In A Downpour
      The 6th Grade White Sweeties scored a great lacrosse win over Half Hollow Hills with only 2 sub players and in a constant downpour. The Sweeties established the lead early at 2-0 and continued to halftime at 6-3.The turning point of the game came after Half Hollow Hills scored to make it only 7-6 GC, a timeout was called by HHH with about 8 minutes left.

Father's Day Tournament
      Division IV from GC Centennials Soccer will be participating in an Intramural tournament sponsored by the Dix Hills Soccer Club. We will be sending one team to the tournament and registration for the team is open to all girls playing in Division IV this spring on a first come, first serve basis. The registration deadline is May 30th. The tournament will be played June 14th & 15th.

7th Grade Grey Lady Rams Clinch Division Championship
      The 7th Grade Gray Lady Rams (7-0) clinched first place in the Western Division of the Long Island Girls Senior Youth Lacrosse League (LIGSYLL) last Saturday by defeating Rockville Centre 10 to 7. They have been able to outscore their opponents 90 to 39 due to their outstanding defense, goal tending (44 recorded saves) and their unselfish team play.

U12 Lions Sportsmanship
      The U-12 girl's Lions soccer team after a tough start have put together an impressive number of wins and well played games. The Lions are presently in fourth place just 4 points out of first and made it into the semi finals of the Waldbaum's Cup. The girl's have had a nice balance of defense and offense while most importantly playing together as a team.

Chaminade Varsity Lacrosse
      There are 12 Garden City residents who are part of the boys varsity lacrosse team at Chaminade High School and they have been enjoying a successful season as the Flyers currently own a 12-4 record. On April 19th Chaminade traveled to Manhasset to participate in "Lead the Way, A Lacrosse Day of Champions".

      GC Centennial Boy/Girls Weekday Goalie Clinic Schedule, Location: St. Paul's Field A The GC Centennial Soccer club will NOW be offering Goalie Clinics to boys and girls that are registered in the Spring Intramural season. Clinics are open to boys and girls in Grades 2-9 who are registered to play spring soccer.

Boys Varsity Lacrosse Finishes Regular Season
      As they head into the playoffs, the Garden City boys varsity lacrosse team finishes a very successful regular season with a 12-4 overall record and an 8-2 Conference B-1 record. Impressive non league wins came over Manhasset at the Woodstick Classic, Syosset, who is the defending Class A champion, Smithtown West and nationally ranked Georgetown Prep of Maryland.

GC Warriors (U-11) Defeat Manhasset Blades
      The GC Warriors soundly defeated the Manhasset Blades 3-0 on Saturday, May 17th. GC played the width of the field throughout the game, and moved the ball up field with crisp, clean passes. The boys took advantage of numerous rebounds off Manhasset's goalie, including a big shot from Kyle Bratton which Owen Fisher converted into the first of his two game goals.

Patriettes Battle Franklin Square
      It was a sunny Saturday that the U11 Patriettes took on the Franklin Square Strikers in a battle for second place. The game was very fast moving which the Patriettes continually moving the ball up field and challenging the Franklin Square defenders. With less than 2 minutes left in the first half however, the Strikers scored to take a 1-0 lead.

Girls Varsity Track - Division Champs
      The Lady Trojans began the final leg of their Spring season on Monday evening at Hewlett High School with a solid victory and a Division Championship. This title is added to the Conference Championship they won last week after a perfect 13-0 season. They now move on to defend their County Championship next week at Westbury HS.

Varsity Baseball Team Hosts Seaford
      On May 15th Garden City's varsity baseball team played host to Seaford in their last regular season game before the playoffs. Junior Jeff Kimball, pitching for the Trojans, gave up no earned runs on six hits. He struck out eight and walked none for his first varsity win for Garden City. Don McKennett hit a two run triple in the fourth inning to add to the 8-1 victory.

      Applications for the 2008-2009 Women's tennis Leagues can be picked up at the Community Park Tennis Center. Openings are limited, but spots available depending on skill level and days available to play. For more information, call Community Park Tennis Center at 483-2525. Applications must be picked up in person.

Xtreme Meet 96 Arsenal At Soccer Park
      On a beautiful spring day, the Garden City Xtreme traveled to Soccer Park in Plainview to do battle with the Syosset 96 Arsenal. When the Xtreme and Arsenal have played in the past, it's usually end-to-end action. This match was no different from past games. The match started with the usual furious pace, one counter attack after another.
