In Memoriam Robert E. Wright, Jr.

Robert E. Wright Jr, 82 of Garden City, peacefully on May 8, 2008. Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1925. The oldest of four brothers, Donald (2002), Richard, and Gary. Grew up in Rome, NY. After high school graduation in 1943 joined the Army Air Corps and trained as a pilot. Discharged in 1946.

Married to Elaine Marie Spoerle of Rockville Centre in 1950. Relocated to Garden City in 1954 where they lived happily for 54 years. Together they raised 5 children. After being discharged from the Army, Robert began a long and successful career as an engineer. He worked for numerous plants throughout New York before starting his own marine engineering business with his sons in 1975.

Throughout his life Robert was an avid boater and skier, among other things. He was a former scout-master and one of the founders of the now defunct Centre Ski Club. He also spent time as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Robert was predeceased in death by Elaine his wife of 57 years (2007). Also by son Robert III (2006) and daughter Mary Kay (2008). Robert is survived by 3 sons, Chris (Pam), Tim (Michelle), Steve (Jodi), son-in-law Greg Kieninger, and nine grand-children, Emily, Greg, Kayla, Matthew, Andrew, Jason, James, Chris and Steven.

Funeral services were arranged by Fairchild and sons. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St Joseph's Catholic church on May 15, 2008.
