Between May 10 and 11, someone stole a Mongoose BMX $300 bike from a front lawn of a GC residence... A Lexus GX 470 valued at 52 k was stolen from a Fourth Street driveway between May 11 and 12. A $500 Prada handbag containing numerous credit cards was also taken...Some time between April 12 and May 12, a leaf blower and 2 bikes were taken from a detached garage at Meadow Street. Value was $500... Between May 8 and 9, a cell phone and credit cards were taken from a Stratford Avenue residence...On May 10, PO K. Wehr arrested an 18-year-old GC male for passing a red light, alleged DWI (.13%), no insurance, and underage drinking at Second Street /Franklin Avenue...A 23-year-old GC female was walking along Wellington Rd./ Newmarket Rd. on May 10, when she was approached by 5 thieves from Elmont. They put a gun to her head and went through her pockets before fleeing the area. With the assistance of GC Police, the teens were arrested later. All were from Elmont and there was one female involved and a male who was a bit older at 22...On May 10, Fifth Street residents returned home from a vacation to find that their house had been ransacked and burglarized. A $25,000 minivan was taken, as well as computers, a video game, a DVD player, and $400 U. S...PO Colonna arrested a 45-year-old GC man for alleged DWI (.12%) at South Avenue on May 11...PO Wedra responded to a call at an Adelphi dorm on May 8 for stolen credit cards. Two 19-year-old female students claimed to be victims of credit card theft and after an investigation by PO Wedra and PO Florio, it was learned that one of the girls was actually the thief and she was arrested for grand larceny 4th degree credit card and for withdrawing money from a bank using that card...On April 27, PO Hennessy stopped a car with defective brake lights,and learned that the driver, a 15-year-old from West Hempstead, was driving the car because his cousin, a 22-year-old West Hempstead man, a front seat passenger, was intoxicated. The 22-year-old was arrested for allowing unlicensed operation and numerous VTL violations, and the 15-year-old was treated as a minor...On May 13, a truck stop was conducted at Franklin Ave. 11 trucks were inspected, 93 tickets issued, with 1 truck for overweight, and 1 truck taken out of service...

A defective washer belt and overheated motor on a washer caused light smoke at an Oxford Blvd. residence on May 12 and natural ventilation was used...Carbon monoxide was found at a Russell Rd. house on May 12, and natural ventilation was also used there...A pull box was pulled in front of 1140 Franklin Avenue on May 13 and there was no reason for the alarm...That's all this week.
