GC Hotel To Celebrate Belmont Stakes
      The Garden City Hotel will mark the 2008 Belmont Stakes by celebrating its 140th running from the eve of the third and final leg of the Triple Crown on Thursday, June 5 through race day on Saturday, June 7. Since the Belmont Stakes' move from The Bronx to nearby Elmont in 1905, The Garden City Hotel has had a tradition of hosting a who's who from the horse racing world.

      In observance of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Day, Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre invites the community to attend a free American Heart Association "Heartsaver" Course on Saturday, May 31st, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The workshop will provide instruction in adult and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

     Michael Thomas Snyder, a fourth-grader in Lisa Ciavardini's class at Stewart School, receives his award for honorable mention in the Long Island Language Teachers' poster contest from Spanish teacher April Cornachio. Brownies Learn About Pet Care
     Brownie Troop #1253 took a trip to Jo-Mar Grooming to begin to learn all about pet care to earn their animal care try-it in the fall. The girls were able to wash and blow dry the owners dog, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Each girl left with a wealth of knowledge on how to care for a dog and a goody bag filled with dog treats! Keep up the good work!

A dedication service was held May 3 at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary for trees and shrubs donated in honor and memory of loved ones, or compliments of neighbors and friends. One tree was in memory of a grandfather, another for a sister.

Pack 55 Camps In At Mystic Aquarium
      Pack 55 Cub Scouts and their families enjoyed a great "Camp-in" at Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT.The Scouts arrived Friday evening and enjoyed a variety of oceanography-based activities. Scouts were treated to an exclusive behind the scenes tour, during which they learned much about care of the sea animals, as well as the mechanics of running the aquarium.

Levy has been elected the 106th president of The Nassau County Bar Association, the largest suburban bar association in the country, at the Bar's annual meeting last evening. Levy, a resident of Jericho, will replace Lance Clarke, whose one-year term will end on May 31, 2008.
