Rams 5th Grade Maroon Team Battles To A Tie
The Garden City Maroon 5th Grade boys' lacrosse team battled a talented and well coached Wantagh team to a 4-4 tie on a very cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. The Maroon team did not come with a full squad due to vacation but the boys that were there answered the call. Connor Brown played extremely well making great saves and dishing out a number of clearing passes that set up some fast breaks. Connor was protected by Tim Butler, Carson Bauer and Brendan Digan on defense. The middies Jack Tigh, Brian Colamussi, Will Glenn, Brogan Mahon and Thomas Wright never quit. Wantagh was not only talented but a physical team. The Maroon team found itself in an early catch up game, trailing 1-0 and then 2-1. The attack of Pat Gibbons, Ryan McCartney, Thomas Mulligan, Peter Kelly and Chris Moscatiello kept constant pressure on the Wantagh goalie. GC was able to finally take a 4-3 lead only to have Wantagh tie it up with 2:30 left to play. In the last 2:30 of the game each team had some opportunities but the clock ran out without either team being able to take advantage.
The Maroon Team looks forward to the return of the rest of the squad as they take on an always competitive Cold Spring Harbor team this Sunday. Go Rams!!
