For the first time ever, the Welcoming Club is holding a Day at the Races! This event will take place on Saturday May 3rd at the Belmont Racetrack for the Nassau County Breeders Cup. We will also be able to place bets for and watch the Kentucky Derby that takes place at 6:15pm that evening. We will be entitled to owner privileges of private trackside viewing, paddock tours and private betting windows. We have exclusive use of the Marquee Tent where a BBQ buffet will be served. There are private betting windows and monitors located in this tent.

The Paddock tours will be held during the 20-minute breaks between races and give us the opportunity to view the saddling of the horses and mounting of the jockeys. We have private trackside seating reserved in the Clubhouse where the owners and trainers sit. As an added bonus we have arranged for a Racing Analyst to walk us through the pro-gram and explain the "odds" to help us make more educated betting for both the Belmont races and the Churchill Downs races, including the Kentucky Derby.

The food and beverage part of the day is from 3pm - 7pm. However, if you would like a longer day of watching the races, the doors in our private Marquee Tent will open at 1pm when the first of the 9 races is scheduled to begin.

The price for this event is $68 per person ($136 per couple) for all Garden City residents along with their family and friends. ADULTS ONLY, please. This includes 4 hours of the BBQ buffet, open bar, racing program and all the perks mentioned above. Send your checks payable to the Welcoming Club of Garden City, to Tracy Koenig, 112 Brixton Road by April 19th. Parking is not included and is $2 for General Parking, $4 for Preferred and $6 for Valet. Please enter at Gate #5 off of Hempstead Turnpike and pay for parking at the booth. Please note the horses will be racing rain or shine.

Dress Code: NO SHORTS or JEANS permitted. Hats Optional.

Directions from Garden City - Take Stewart Avenue West to the end (approximately 2 miles West of the GC Hotel). Make a left at the light onto Covert Avenue and go South for 1 mile to Hempstead Turnpike. There will be a Shell gas station on the right. Make a right at the light and head West on Hempstead Turnpike for 1.5 miles. Enter Belmont Park at Gate #5.
