In her introduction, Chairperson Prem Chauhan announced that Ms. Langan had just returned from Utah, where her second novel "The Missing Virus" had been awarded The Bram Stoker Award for the Best Novel of 2007.

However, it was Ms. Langan's first novel, "The Keeper," which was the topic of the day. Ms. Langan described the vicissitudes of getting a debut novel published and the assistance of her publisher and editor.

She then read excerpts from her premiere novel, which is set in Maine (where she attended college). Critics have described her novel as "a sublime voice in the supernatural suspense genre."

Ms. Langan then read excerpts from both novels. This was followed by a lively question and answer period. Complimentary copies of her novel were distributed.
