GC Attorneys Meet Northern Ireland Leader

Michael Hopkins, at left, and Donal Mahoney, at right, met recently with the Rev. Ian Paisley, First Minister of Northern Ireland, during his state visit to the U.S.  Messrs. Hopkins and Mahoney, both of whom are attorneys, Garden City residents and former presidents of Irish-Americans in Government, the Long Island-based charitable group, spoke with Rev. Paisley at Manhattan's Fitzpatrick Hotel.  The Northern Ireland political leader was in New York City for a joint appearance with New York City (NYC) comptroller William Thompson, who announced that four NYC pension funds were investing a combined total of $150 million in the Emerald Infrastructure Development Fund (EIDF).  The EIDF is a privately-managed hedge fund charged with making economic development investments in Northern Ireland, with the monies being allocated in accordance with the provisions of 1998's Good Friday Agreement.
