Sally Richmond, left, accepts the AAUW Branch Recognition Award from Sylvia Ebert. AAUW Garden City Branch past president Sally Richmond was among those honored on March 29 at the Long Island Interbranch Luncheon at Milleridge Inn. Sylvia Ebert, current co-president of the branch, introduced Mrs. Richmond and described her years of service to the organization and her many achievements as a outstanding member.

The luncheon celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the Interbranch which consists of the eleven branches of the American Association of University Women on Long Island. Former Garden City resident Jane Bailey was the first president in 1988. Other village presidents were the late Ellen Casey (1998) and Joan Stafford (2006).

The 2008 Woman of Achievement Award was presented to Diane Cohen, Executive Director of the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls.
