Kiwanian Jack Gearns To Be Honored

Kiwanis Club of Garden City President Arthur Anderson is pleased to announce the Club's decision to honor member John "Jack" Gearns at a dinner celebration set for Thursday, May 15th at LaMarmite Restaurant in Mineola. The award confers designation and membership in the company of New York District Kiwanis International Everyday Heroes, a project established to recognize individuals whose community service goes beyond the ordinary and expected without regard for attention or for receiving awards.
Jack, the son of Mary and the late William Gearns, is a lifelong resident of Garden City, where he resides with his wife Carolyn, and their two children, Christopher and Colleen. Jack is an active Director of the Kiwanis Club and St. Joseph's Men's Fellowship. In 2006 Jack was honored by Winthrop Hospital as its "Volunteer of the Year." Jack is a Director of the Leo J. Wahl Foundation the charitable arm of the Wahl Clipper Corporation founded by his grandfather, Leo J. Wahl.
