The seventh grade Lady Rams, led by Coaches Jahelka, Coleman and Shannon, earned their third straight victory this past Sunday, defeating a tough Bellmore-East Meadow squad 11-6 on the turf at Garden City High School.
Bellmore-East Meadow jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Lady Rams scored six unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead late in the first half. Goal scorers included Addie Zebrowski, Erin Higgins, Lilly Schmidt, Krista Dampman, Marie Cristoforo, and Jackie Jahelka with assists being credited to Niki Berkery, Bitty Furman, Jackie Jahelka, Erin Higgins, and Krista Dampman.
The Lady Rams moved out to a comfortable 10-4 lead in the second half as strong defensive play from Meghan Higgins and Hayley Newlin-Wagner backed up the strong goaltending of Jacqueline Ferri. Second half goal-scorers included Emily Finnerty, Lilly Schmidt, Addie Zebrowski, and Krista Dampman (three goals total for the afternoon). Second half assists were registered by Haley Shannon and Caitlin Mallon. The exceptional ground ball play of Mary Glenn and Brianna Noak allowed the Lady Rams to maintain an offensive pressure that Bellmore-East Meadow just could not counter.
The Lady Rams opened their season with a 12-5 home victory over Farmingdale and they traveled to Wantagh where they registered an 11-2 victory in week two.
The Lady Rams look forward to welcoming back teammates Lauren Coleman, Stephanie DiPierro, and Taylor Pappas when they resume their season with a home game on April 27.
