GCHS Students To Collect For Local Shelters
The Garden City High School Student Council and two of the High School's service clubs-the Key/Interact Club and Students Helping Students (SHS)-have teamed up with Rock and Wrap It Up to mount a denim jean drive. Rock and Wrap It Up is a national organization the supports shelters for people in need through donations of food, clothing, and other items.
The jeans drive will be held from May 1 through June 13. Donations from the community are welcome. Only clean jeans in good condition will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off in front of the main office at the High School anytime the school is open.
The students also have organized a snack drive through Rock and Wrap It Up. Students can drop off individually-wrapped snacks of juice, cookies, chips, and similar items in the cafeteria any time the school is open from April 7 to June 27.
Advisors Kathy Abrams, Joanne Meyer-Jendras, and Natasha Khan will deliver the donated jeans and snacks to nearby Rock and Wrap It Up drop-off locations. The items will be used at local shelters.
