Yale Students Give Organ Recital
On Sunday afternoon, April 27 at 4 p.m., the Cathedral of the Incarnation presents the next organ recital in its 2007-2008 schedule. Talented Yale graduate students Andrew Pester and Enrico Contenti will be playing on the Cathedral's newly refurbished 1986 Casavant organ.
Andrew Pester holds degrees from Yale University and the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. He is currently pursuing the degree of Master of Arts in Religion at Yale. Andrew is the organist of the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale and of the historic (1737) First Church of Christ in Darien, CT. He will be playing the tenth and last of Charles-Marie Widor's monumental organ symphonies, the Sym-phony Romane, which incorporates the Easter plainchant melody Haec Dies.
Enrico Contenti is a candidate for the Master's Degree in Organ Performance at Yale University where he studies with Thomas Murray. He also holds a degree from the Eastman School of Music. Currently, Rico is the organ scholar at Christ Church in Greenwich, CT where he works with the girls and teens of the music program. He will be playing Flights of Fancy: Ballet for Organ by American composer William Albright, who is known for his incorporation of popular music styles into his music.
Suggested donation is $10 for general seating, $5 for senior citizens and students. Children are admitted free.
