It was like watching an anaconda killing it's prey as the Colts forced the Jersey City team to defend their line for almost the entire match.

"They kept stepping up a gear and we were battling to match it," said St Peter's Coach Mike Fletcher. Some incisive plays by No.9 Gareth McLoughlin when he set up tries for Garden City's Jeff Fell and Rob Ploth who both scored two tries each. The game saw the Long Island team put up a succession of high balls and hard chases which caused serious problems for Prep.

After 20 minutes, the Colts backs embarrassed the visitors defense when Anthony Collins pounced on a loose ball and sped down the right touchline to score untouched under the posts. A few minutes later, a smart backline passing move from Sean Reilly and Matt Nesi enabled Phil Luongo to bust through the defense and score a great center's try in the corner.

Man of the match: Jeff Fell

Long Island B team lost a punishing war of attrition 15 -5 to Prep's B team. It was a colossal physical confrontation between two well-matched sides. After conceding a try to the vistors early in the game, the Colts hit back with a sensational run from Garden City player Jim Kenny. Good performances also from Drew de Lannoy, Brandon Passano, Kevin Renna, James Arnao and Travis Carioscia, Steve McCarthy & Ryan Adams.

The Colts travel to Essex, to play Montclaire HS at 11am tomorrow, Saturday April 5th. To view over 900 photos from both matches go to www.Newsphoto.com
