Early on in the game, Chris Koester lofted a pass from the left corner to the front of the goal, where Matt Flynn netted it at the near post. Five minutes later Bobby Clarke brought the ball up midfield and passed it to Matt F., who blasted the ball into the goal to score his second goal. Even though Merrick did score a goal on GC, the Warriors sealed the deal when Matt F. lofted a beautiful cross from the right corner to the near post, where Kyle Brattan volleyed it out of the air past the goalie. Solid defense by Jonathan Granville (who cleared the ball out of the box several times), Matt Greiner and James Walsh, in addition to some great saves by goalie Gerard Smith, kept the Blue Devils from scoring again. Alex Franco, Brogan Mahon and Chris Larkin continually moved the ball from the midfield into the offensive zone for GC scoring opportunities. Jonathan Morris and Owen Fisher, with the other forwards, kept the pressure on the Merrick goalie throughout the game. Great job Warriors!
