Children's Art Exhibit Opens
Treat yourself to an enjoyable exhibit of artwork composed by Garden City students, which will open this weekend at The Garden City Historical Society Museum. The children, grades kindergarten through 12, were challenged to draw or photograph "Architecture of Garden City," which was the 2008 theme of the Historical Society's third annual Children's Juried Art Contest. The children's illustrations depict an architectural feature of a residential or non-residential structure, located in the Village of Garden City, and are drawn in pencil, color pencil, or pen and ink. In addition, high school students have contributed photographs for this exhibit.
The artwork will be on display at The Garden City Historical Society Museum, 109 Eleventh Street, on Saturdays, April 5 and 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays, April 6 and 13, from noon to 3 p.m. The Society will host a reception for the 2008 winners this Sunday, April 6, from 1 to 3 p.m.
We also invite art exhibit guests who come on Saturdays to visit the Society's A.T. Stewart Exchange. The consignment shop's Saturday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. The Exchange is also open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
