Students in Virginia McCavera's second-grade class at Stratford Avenue School learned about Chinese New Year traditions in February from Sandra Wu, mother of classmate Samantha Wu. Mrs. Wu showed the students traditional New Year decorations; spoke about this year's animal-the rat-and its significance; discussed preparations for the Wu family New Year celebration; and showed the students how to use chopsticks. Each student also received a traditional gift bag.
