The new principal of Garden City High School, Nanine Cuttitta, is shown here with Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Fino Celano, left, and School Board President Kenneth J. Monaghan. The appointment was announced on March 17 at the Garden City School Board meeting. Ms. Cuttitta comes to Garden City from Dear Park High School, where she has served as principal, assistant principal, Social Studies chairperson, and Social Studies teacher. She also taught Social Studies at Junior High School 50 in Williamsburg, NY. Ms. Cuttita holds a B.S. in social sciences from SUNY at Stony Brook, an M.S. in Social Studies, and a professional certificate in Educational Administration from C.W. Post College. The Shock won the GCAA Girl's 3rd/4th Grade Championship game on Monday night against a tough and skilled Sparks team. In the exciting Championship game, the lead changed several times as the Shock finally prevailed late in the game for a thrilling 10-6 win. Both teams played fast break basketball and stifling defense in the half court, in what was definitely the best game of season in the Girl's 3rd/4th Grade Division. In this fast paced, hard fought defensive struggle, every shot was contested, every rebound was a battle, and bodies were flying all over the court for loose balls. Congratulations on an outstanding season for the Sparks and the Championship for the Shock.
