Change is everywhere in the Long Island Colts camp, the high school rugby team has over 20 new players, which has yielded a host of new fans and families out to watch the boys play their new sport. Garden City Rams Youth Lacrosse Day at Hofstra University last Saturday was an even bigger event than anticipated. Hundreds of very wet and cold G.C. Rams players and their families witnessed a stunning 8-7 overtime upset by Hofstra over John Hopkins University, the current National Champion and the #1 Ranked team in the country going into the game. On Wednesday January 30th almost 100 kids took part in this fun filled event. Garden City Basketball was proud to be one of the select few organizations to host this event. The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening their spring season on Saturday April 5th. Girls play 9:00AM until 1:00PM and boys play from 1:00PM until 5:00PM. The program runs for eight consecutive Saturday's with the exception of April 19th & May 24th (Memorial Day Weekend). The season ends on June 7th with Soccerfest. More ... The Garden City U-10 Bombers played in the Dix Hills Soccer Tournament on March 1. The Bombers won both their games against teams from Northport and Dix Hills. Sunday's games were cancelled due to the poor field conditions. The Bombers begin their season on Saturday, March 15 against HBC Barcelona at 11:00 at Nassau Haven Park. More ... The Recreation Department's Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 22nd at Garden City Community Park. Starting with the fall 2007 season the GC Centennial Soccer Club began outfitting intramural players in grades 2 through 12 with uniforms as opposed to the cotton or silk shirts. These uniforms are reversible and can be worn for multiple seasons. These uniforms are subsidized by the Centennial soccer club therefore the cost per uniform is $20. More ...
