Ambrosino Applauds Valentines For Vets Pupils

2008-03-14 / Community

Hempstead Town Councilman Edward Ambrosino (4th right, back row) gathers with students at Homestead Elementary School in Garden City to thank them for their participation in the Valentines for Vets program, which the Town instituted in 2001. Through this program students create valentines to send to veterans in local VA hospitals. The councilman collects the valentines and brings them to a veteran's organization, which then delivers them to the hospitalized veterans. Many of these men and women don't have families and it means so much to them to know that the young children appreciate them for the sacrifices they have made for our nation. Also pictured with the students are Principal Dr. Suzanne Viscovich and teachers Michelle Abatemarco, Keri Connelly, Christine Kenney, Christine Oppedisano, Stephanie Presti, Jennifer Solano and Laura Burke.
