IT'S TIME FOR THE ANNUAL EASTER HUNT AT COMMUNITY PARK!

The Recreation Department's Annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, March 22nd at Garden City Community Park. This event is open to any resident of the Village of Garden City in PreK to 5th grade.

The Egg Hunt will begin at 10 a.m. sharp! Three separate hunts will be held for the following age groups - PreK and Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd, and 3rd through 5th. The children will be searching for all kinds of treats as well as the special "number eggs", which win special prizes.

Enter Community Park through the Hockey Gate located on the south side of the park near the Nursery School.

* Parents are asked to observe age groupings in order to give all children a fair chance for treats.

Pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny will be available so bring your cameras.

GARDEN CITY RECREATIONPRESENTS A NIGHT OUT AT AN ISLANDERS GAME

The Garden City Recreation Department has secured a limited number of tickets to the New York Islanders last Home Game on April 3rd 2008 vs. The New York Rangers. Come see Rick DiPietro and the rest of the New York Islanders take on the division rivals with special offer! The Garden City Recreation Department will be selling tickets for $60.00 (End Mezzanine Seats) on a first come first serve basis.

To purchase tickets please visit the New Recreation Office located at the Cottages at St Pauls at 108 Rockaway Avenue and fill out the order form for tickets.

Payment must be in the form of cash or check. Tickets will be mailed at a later date. Please make checks out to New York Islanders! The deadline to take advantage of this great offer will be Monday March 24th, 2008.

winter chess club begins

The Garden City Recreation Department is sponsoring a Chess Club for children in grades 3-6. This free program will run on Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m. at the Garden City Library's Small Meeting Room. The program begins on January 12 th and will run through March. Players at all levels of experience are invited to attend. For further information, please call 465-4075.

Open Gym

Our Middle/High School Open Gym Program will now continue on the following days and times -

Wednesdays from 3:30 - 6 p.mBasketball

Thursdays from 3:30 - 6 p.m. Basketball and Volleyball

Tuesdays are no longer available do to the start of our elementary school program.

Games are strictly pickup. This time is set aside for students to enjoy activities with their friends in a supervised setting. No organized practices or parents are allowed during this time . For further information please contact the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

adult swim at adelphi

The Recreation Department's adult swim program has begun at Adelphi's indoor pool located in Woodruff Hall. This free program is open to any adult resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City, aged 18 or older. The program is open to residents for lap swimming on Mondays through Thursdays in one hour time blocks at 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in this program must sign up through the Recreation Office. You must register each day you would like to swim by calling the Recreation Office at 465-4075. No reservations will be taken ahead of time and space is limited.
