On Saturday night, March 1st, Garden City firefighters were alerted for their "Jaws of Life" rescue equipment needed at a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Nassau Boulevard. Michael DeMasi, a resident of Garden City for 20 years, passed away on January 31, 2008. He fought a difficult battle with tremendous strength, courage and dignity over the past year.
