St. Patrick's Parade And Post Parade Party At St. O'Joseph's School
      All Irish eyes were smiling on March 2nd as St. Jospeh's School once again marched in the St. Patrick's Day Parade sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The weather was beautiful and the spirit infectious as the award-winning band took to the streets.

      Reid J. Sessa , son of Paula and Jay Sessa is a sophomore at Gettysburg College,in Pennsylvania. He is a recipient of The Deans List accommodation for the fall semester on 2007, which requires a GPA of 3.5-4.0. He is a member of the national fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon where he as been voted vice-president for 2008/09.

GC Casino Bridge
      It was the" wearin' o the green" and corn beef and cabbage that set the mood for our Saturday night bridge at the Garden City Casino! It was lovely to see the greenery worn by the ladies and special ties by the men. After an enjoyable dinner everyone engaged in some "blarney bids" and great playing of their hands ! The winners for party bridge were Fran DeAngelo and Mary Pascale.

New Furnishings Arrive For Young Adult Area
     The Garden City Public Library's expansion and renovation of the Young Adult area is nearing completion. Young Adult Librarian Marge Kelly is pictured at her desk in the newly renovated and enlarged area located along the Seventh Street side of the building. Soft, comfortable seating and tables and chairs are available for young adults to relax and read, work with one another, or meet with Mrs. Kelly. A wall with colored glass blocks and built in bookshelves separates the Young Adult collection from the rest of the library.

$50,000 Grant Awarded To Help Fund New Church
      In support of its initial efforts to start a second church, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Garden City, received a $50,000 grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans recently. Eric Bilger, local Thrivent representative, presented the check during a recent Sunday worship service.

Assemblyman Announces Four Library Grants
      Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) today announced that four libraries that serve constituents in his district will receive $150,130 in funding for construction improvements. The grant funds are from a special allocation of $14 million in capital funds for public library construction provided by the New York State Legislature in the 2007-2008 State Budget.
