School Aid Rally Tomorrow By Stephanie Mariel Petrellese

An Education and Taxpayer Rally is scheduled for Saturday, March 1st at noon at Ellsworth W. Allen Park in Farmingdale, Garden City Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Feirsen reminded residents at the Feb. 25th meeting of the Garden City Board of Education.

School districts across Long Island are bracing for substantial cuts in education funding. Albert Chase, Garden City School District's assistant superintendent for business and finance, has estimated a decrease in state aid of $82,820. The exact amount will not be known until legislators approve the state budget, which is supposed to happen by April 1st.

Education and community leaders are expected to join Long Island's Senate majority members at the rally to protest Gov. Eliot Spitzer's proposed cuts. The park is located on Motor Avenue. For more information, call (631) 360-3706.
