Mike Mancusi goes up for two against Roslyn. Photo by Newsphoto.com On Wednesday evening January 30th the Garden City Trojans and the Roslyn Bulldogs played a boys varsity basketball game at GCHS. Garden City had a 27-20 halftime lead but Roslyn came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Trojans 25-9 and went on to win 61-47. Leading the scoring for the Trojans was Mike Mancusi with 13 points, including two 3-pointers. Also scoring for the Trojans: Pat Reeves (10), Jeff Fell (9), Matt Montgomery (7), Hayden Fries (4), Roger Mancusi (2), Billy Herbst and Denis Rice (1 each).

The team followed that game up with a win over Sewanhaka on Monday evening February 4th. Roger Mancusi had a perfect night as he went 7 for 7 from the field, 1 for 1 from the line, and ended up with 15 points and 14 rebounds as Garden City went on to win 64-46. Other scoring for the Trojans included Denis Rice and Hayden Fries with nine points each, Jeff Fell and Mike Mancusi with seven each, Jeff Kimball and Ken Pape with four each, Reid Rosello (3), Jon Muscarella, Matt Montgomery, and Billy Herbst with two each.
