Marilyn O'Brien, loving and devoted mother, wife, and community volunteer died in Greenwich, Connecticut on January 28th. She was 82. The cause of death was a single vehicle automobile accident. Mrs. O'Brien was born on June 6, 1925 in New Bedford, Massachusetts and lived there until her parents moved to Floral Park, New York when she was in high school. She graduated from New Paltz State Teachers College and was an elementary school teacher on Long Island. She was married to the late Edward T. O'Brien, a New York State Supreme Court Judge. Marilyn and Ed raised their two sons, Dana and Douglas, in Garden City. Their passions included skiing and sailing. The family took frequent winter trips to Mad River Glen in Waitsfield, Vermont and sailed in the summer on Long Island Sound. They competed in the Ensign Nationals Sailing Regatta, cruised a 36 foot sloop, and in their later years took their Grand Banks trawler to Maine. Marilyn was a member of Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club where she was an active participant in the Women's sailing program and the Ladies tennis program. Marilyn was an avid reader and bridge player. She was a long time member of the Great Books Group, and played bridge at the Community Club and with other groups in Garden City. She volunteered for over twenty years at the Winthrop University Hospital, helping visitors comfort their loved ones. She also served as a loyal member of the alter guild at The Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City. Marilyn recently moved to the Greenwich area. She joined First Congregational Church of Greenwich, the YWCA, and liked to frequent The Perrott Library in Old Greenwich. In addition to her sons Dana, of Riverside, Connecticut, and Douglas of Houston, Texas, Marilyn is survived by her sister, Cynthia Wallace of Westport, Connecticut; her brother Jack Giegerich of Wayne, Pennsylvania and four grandchildren, Katy, Teddy, Amy and Beth. A memorial service for Marilyn will be held Saturday, February 9th at 11am at First Congregational Church, 108 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, Connecticut. In Memoriam Warren McEntee Warren McEntee, of La Palma, California and Garden City, New York, went to his eternal home on February 3, 2008. He was 82. Born and raised in Garden City, New York, Warren received a B.A. from Wesleyan University and graduated with an M.B.A. from New York University, while working at the municipal bond firm on Wall Street, since 1951, that his father had co-founded in 1932. His memberships included: Sons of the American Revolution, New York's Economic Club, The University Club of New York and his local church club in the summer colony of Point O'Woods, New York. Warren's civic activities included having served on his local board of education for six years, president and treasurer of his local property owners association, treasurer of his summer home's association and Trustee and Director of Development at the historical Fraunces Tavern Museum in New York City. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, a daughter and a son, three grandchildren and a sister residing in Louisiana.
