Cancer Society's "Daffodil Days" Campaign

2008-02-08 / Front Page

Every year the American Cancer Society welcomes the arrival of spring with thousands of daffodils. This magnificent flower is also the Society's symbol of hope that cancer will be eliminated as a major health problem.

It is our hope that you will join the Garden City Unit of the American Cancer Society in continuing to make a difference in the fight against cancer by participating in the "Daffodil Days" campaign. Funds raised through the "Daffodil Days" campaign support the American Cancer Society's progress towards a cancer-free world by helping to fund life-saving research, education, advocacy and services for cancer patients and their families.

The Gift of Hope is the highlight of Daffodil Days. Your minimum donation of $20 will enable the American Cancer Society to further its mission and deliver an anonymous gift of flowers to a cancer patient in a health care facility in our community. This year we have chosen the following facilities: Cancer Center for Kids & Oncology Department at Winthrop Hospital, South Nassau Communities Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering at Mercy Hospital, The Monti Cancer Center at NSUH-Manhasset, Syosset Hospital, Plainview Hospital and Nassau University Medical Center.

You are invited to purchase a bunch of 10 fresh-cut daffodils for a $10 donation, or a 2008 Limited Edition Boyd's Bear and a bunch of daffodils for a $25 donation.

Daffodils and bears sell out quickly, so please be sure to place your order with Eileen Comerford, 1 Spruce Street, Garden City, by Friday, February 15, 2008. Checks may be made out to the American Cancer Society. Any questions please contact either Eileen at 746-5184 or Susan Pickering, ACS Director of Special Events, at 931-6082, ext. 3014.
