The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund is sponsoring an afternoon of great entertainment for both children and adults by bringing the popular basketball troupe, "The Harlem Wizards" to town on Saturday, February 2nd at 1:00PM in the Garden City High School Gymnasium. When this event was first presented in 2000, eleven hundred residents packed the stands, stormed the concession stands and bought out the supply of Harlem Wizards souvenirs.

The Wizards will combine playing skills and comedic antics against a team composed of Garden City teachers representing the school district. So far, the following teachers have signed on for the contest: from the High School - Christopher Wuest, Mark Quigley and Jeff Modiano; from the Middle School - Erica Fregosi, Stacey Costigan and Tom Scrivanek; From Stratford - Michelle Ciquera and Mary Freese; from Stewart - Linda Klang, Jon Leake, Michael DeBlasio and Crystal Boyd; from Hemlock - Paula Hogan, Patty Foehr, Eryn Maher, Mike Caparella and Joanne Koncick.

The Wizards will showcase their array of fancy ball handling and trick plays that will dazzle their opponents and the audience alike. In the event the Wizards face a serious challenge, they will call on their exceptional basketball skills to outscore their opponents.

The event will also feature a half-time show with audience participation and a "50-50" raffle. Refreshments and souvenirs will be available for purchase. The doors will be open at noon with the show starting promptly at 1:00PM. Be sure to arrive early to get good seats. If you have ordered tickets in advance by mail, they will be available at the pick-up table at the door.

Tickets will be available at the door for $12.00. Children three years of age and younger will be admitted free. Strong advance sales indicate that a sellout is likely for this fun-filled day.

The Garden City Student Aid & Scholarship Fund is a charitable, non-profit organization that provides loans, scholarships and awards to Garden City High School Students. All proceeds from this event will be used to increase its program of assisting deserving students in financing their college educations.
