Friends Of Music Showcase
What parent would pass up the opportunity to bolster their child's musical self-confidence by performing in front of an entirely friendly group of music lovers? Just such an opportunity exists at the Garden City Friends of Music Student Showcase on Sunday, March 9 from 2-4 p.m. in the Parlor of the Garden City Community Church. Whether your child is just starting out vocally or instrumentally or whether your child is practicing for their upcoming NYSSMA festival test, there is no better way for them to become more self-assured than performing in front of an intimate, encouraging audience.
All Garden City students grades 2-12 are invited to perform. All abilities are welcome. This is not a competition. Play or sing solo or team up with some friends to do a duet or trio. Given the cozy setting of the Parlor, the space is limited. We cannot accommodate large ensembles and rock groups. We encourage all genres of music from classical to jazz to pop. Original compositions are also welcome. Please call early to reserve your child's place. Performers are required to pre-register with the title of their musical selection and composer. The deadline is February 25. For further information and registration, please call Elizabeth Colantonio at 148-8525 or e-mail her at mcdea@aol.com.
The Friends of Music is a not-for-profit organization which promotes music education and the music programs of the Garden City Public Schools.
